The support you get from a doula is unlike any other relationship you’ll have in your life – Nora, Clearwater

review

I went with Buddha belly for birth education classes, my birth doula, and postpartum doula. I was beyond satisfied with every service we used — and would highly recommend.

Our instructor for birth education and was super patient with us both.

What I loved about this service was that it was both intimate ( in our home and just us) , and customized. She didn’t pretend like she had all the answers or knew exactly how our birth was going to go — instead she prepared us with information about the possibilities and the options we would be faced with. This approach greatly reduced both of our anxieties as first time parents.

On the night when I went into labor we called the doula to meet us at the hospital. Prior to that night, both doulas had been checking in on me throughout my pregnancy — checking more frequently as my due date came closer. To make a long story short, a lot of my birth plan had to be eliminated due to life and things changing in the moment. I ended up pushing for over 3 hours, when most doctors would have sectioned me — my doctor fought against it. My doula was there every step of the way. Helping me when I was terrified to re-focus. She helped me realize I could do it, and against the odds ( and after 3 failed vacuum attempts) I did! The support you get from a doula is unlike any other relationship you’ll have in your life. She helped me refocus, and empowered me when I truly just felt like giving up. At no point was there any judgement when I decided I did indeed need that epidural. If you’re on the fence about getting a doula it will be the best money you’ve ever spent.

After a long and tiring birth my husband and I were shell shocked coming home with a new baby.

We were running on no sleep, struggling with breastfeeding, and trying to help our gassy little guy become accustomed to the world around him. To put it lightly, we were exhausted. This is where the postpartum doula came in handy. After talking to Amy, we ended up signing up for postpartum doula hours and opted to use them at night. Marisa is such a sweet lady with great advice from local resources to help with breastfeeding. We have her help us one night a week so we can catch up on sleep. I have already asked her so many questions about pumping, breastfeeding, diaper rash and more.

Honestly, everyone I’ve come in contact with at buddha belly has been nothing short of pleasant and professional. I know that both my prenatal and postpartum experience would not have been nearly as positive without these services and these amazing women!
