Best Kept Secrets – Summer Fun in Tampa Bay – Part 2
It’s mid-July and Tampa Bay parents are hot, tired and asking in unison… “When does school start again!”
A few air-conditioned hours gazing at alligators, river otters, rays, jellyfish and sharks is a great way to spend a hot Florida summer day, while simultaneously stimulating young bodies and brains. Let’s face it, while educational opportunities are a “nice to have,” at this point in the summer we want activities that make kids tired for bedtime. This spot offers both, woohoo!
If you’re feeling really touristy, you can take a boat ride in the bay cruising for dolphins or check out the aquarium behind the scenes.
Make sure to pack bathing suits, towels and sunscreen, because the aquarium just opened their completely renovated splash pad! The new layout and design makes it a lot easier to see your children around the whole place from one (preferably seated) location.
The best part of this secret splash pad? Adult beverages!!! That’s right, for those who indulge, you can sit in a shady tiki bar under a ceiling fan with a full view of the splash pad. Smart parents have been known to invite an older cousin or neighbor to run the wee ones ragged while sipping on a icy draft or fruity treat.
Cheers! (PS – despite baby hand in picture, no beer consuming was done by actual baby!)
