MOSI: Best Kept Secrets, Summer Fun in Tampa Bay, Part 1 (updated July 2022)
Hey Moms & Dads,
One of the best things I ever did was get a MOSI (Museum of Science and Industry) membership. There are different levels but we bought a basic membership for a family of five.
MOSI in Tampa has wonderful features that both of my children enjoy. There are educational exhibits to interact with, rope climbing activities, planetarium shows and more. As they got older they both grew to like the virtual reality simulator. In addition to visiting the museum for a day there are also summer camps, preschool classes and special themed events to attend.
But the membership is so much more than just open access to MOSI. You will access to other museums and parks, special discounts and members only benefits.
The first year that I got my MOSI membership we were also able to visit:
- Glazers Children Museum in Tampa at a discounted rate
- Great Explorations Children’s Museum 50% of all year
- Clearwater Marine Aquarium 50% off all year
- Florida Aquarium and Lowry Park zoo for free in September
- Sunken Gardens, Tampa Museum of Art for free and Dinosaur World 50% off all month in October & November
The benefits and discounts may change from year to year. However, no matter the changes there are always great bonuses.
We have gotten so much value from our membership with the visits we’ve done this year and it has inspired us to get out and do more. It just seems like a no-brainer for families with children, and I’ve only listed the places that my family frequents. There are a total of 15+ local museums or attractions that have free or discounted admission and other reciprocal member benefits.
You also get free admission to over 250 other science museums throughout the US and worldwide and discounted admission to more than 200 children’s museums throughout North America. If you are traveling you’ll always have a fun place to take the kids. For example, in Los Angeles we went to the La Brea Tar Pits and Museum California Science Center, and the Natural History Museum for free!
A friend suggested this membership to me and I just wish I had gotten it sooner. We use it often enough that I wanted to share this helpful tip with everybody else. Rainy days in the summer are so much more fun at the museum!
